We haven't been posting on here as much as we would like, but I'll try to be better. Plan on seeing lots of new things coming your way, such as this breadboard made from reclaimed, 100 year-old wood planks. Also, just finished sealing this apple wood spoon, and the color is really amazing. Make sure to check out our online shop for continual updates! Link in bio.
Lovely cherry eating spoons in the evening dappled sunlight. These are nearly finished. Because I carve all my spoons entirely with hand tools and finish them off the knife I never carve a spoon in one go. I start when the wood is green - fresh - so it’s softer and easier work on the hands. I carve them to this point then leave them to dry out. This makes the wood harder to carve but leaves a beautiful shiny smooth finish straight off the knife.
We have a mature tree in our backyard which has developed quite a lean. I've been relieving it of some excess weight via some pruning. The timber is outstanding and reminded me of apple and olive.
This selection are carved from one small branch and utilised bent sections and crooks. The mini ladle is from a 90° crook.
The tree needs some more pruning.....
